Grief Passages
from my untitled second collection

Grief Passages

1.

A doctor feeling for broken bones.

A storm held in abeyance while a small boat races straight for the harbor.

Before memory fully kicks in, and sleep dissipates.

Ink drying on parchment.

2.

If you’ve come back to settle ancient scores, don’t do it.

12-ft waves surging over the seawall.

A woman kneading dough. Folding and slamming it.

Folding and slamming it down.
